El Ciclo de Conferencias de Estudios africanos y de la Diáspora Africana, ha sido creado para difundir el pensamiento africano-centrado y panafricanista a través de las experiencias y los aportes de los africanos y sus descendientes alrededor de mundo. Del Reino Kongo a la República Democrática del Congo

En esta presentación Nengumbi C. Sukama ofrece una exploración histórica de los acontecimientos políticos, culturales, sociales, jurídicos y geográficos del territorio que conocemos como la República Democrática del Congo. La disertación va abordar cuestiones relacionadas al Reino Kongo, la llegada de los europeos, la esclavización, de congoleños/as y africanos, la resistencia, la decadencia del Reino Kongo, la figura de Kimpa Vita (mujer) como símbolo de resistencia, Kongo propiedad privada del Rey Leopoldo II de Bélgica, saqueos y crímenes de Leopoldo II, la expropiación de Kongo en manos de Leopoldo II, Congo, colonia belga, las luchas por la independencia, los distintos gobiernos y las luchas por la verdadera liberación e independencia de la República Democrática del Congo.

Nengumbi Celestin Sukama nació en la República Democrática del Congo (Ex Zaire), llegó a Argentina en agosto de 1995 debido a una persecución política, y en 2005 adquirió la nacionalidad argentina. Nengumbi es licenciado en Administración de Empresas (1989), también cuenta con una Tecnicatura Superior Estudios de Negocios (Inglaterra 2007). Actualmente está cursando la Especialización en Estudios Afro-latinoamericanos y Caribeños con CLACSO.

Es el Fundador y Director Ejecutivo del Instituto Argentino para la Igualdad, Diversidad e Integración (IARPIDI), Presidente de la Asociación de Congoleños de Argentina (ACDA), Miembro Regular de la Asociación de Estudios Latino-Americanos (LASA), Integrante de la Red Nacional de Líderes Migrantes en Argentina y Coordinador de la Comisión de Inclusión Social de la Red Argentino Americana para el Liderazgo (REAL). El gran compromiso de su vida es la lucha por los derechos humanos.

Poco tiempo después de su llegada a Argentina, empezó a participar de distintas actividades con la finalidad de promover, defender y proteger los derechos humanos de solicitantes de asilo, refugiados/as, inmigrantes africanos/as y afrodescendientes residentes en el país.

En el marco de estas actividades, Nengumbi ha participado en distintos programas de televisión (Argentina para Armar, Segundos para todos, I P Global, etc.), en defensa de derechos de inmigrantes africanos/as en la Justicia Nacional, en audiencia internacional ante la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos, en la redacción de informes sobre derechos humanos enviados a las Naciones Unidas, de actividades culturales, reuniones con autoridades, encuentros nacionales, jornadas y seminarios, charlas en escuelas sobre derechos humanos como disertantes. También, ha participado de varios seminarios internacionales en el marco de la lucha contra la discriminación racial, la xenofobia y el racismo (Estados Unidos, Holanda, Francia, Colombia y España). The Cycle of Conferences on African and the African Diaspora Studies [CEADA] invites to the conference “Del reino Kongo a la República Democrática del Congo” presentada por Nengumbi Celestin Sukama.

The Cycle of Conferences on African and the African Diaspora Studies has been created to disseminate Afrocentric and Pan-Africanist thought through the experiences and contributions of Africans and their descendants worldwide. It is an open and permanent space where experts in different areas of knowledge are invited. The dialogue revolves around issues of collective interest and from the Afrocentric, Pan-Africanist, and anti-colonialist perspectives.

From the Kongo kingdom to the Democratic Republic of the Congo

In this lecture, Nengumbi C. Sukama offers a historical exploration of the political, cultural, social, legal, and geographical events of the territory that we know as the Democratic Republic of Congo. The dissertation will address issues related to the Kongo Kingdom, the arrival of Europeans, enslavement, Congolese and Africans, resistance, the decline of the Kongo Kingdom, the figure of Kimpa Vita (woman) as a symbol of resistance, Kongo private property of King Leopold II of Belgium, looting and crimes of Leopold II, the expropriation of Kongo in the hands of Leopold II, Congo, a Belgian colony, the struggles for independence, the different governments and the struggles for the true liberation and independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Nengumbi Celestin Sukama was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (former Zaire), arrived in Argentina in August 1995 due to political persecution, and in 2005 acquired Argentine nationality. Nengumbi has a degree in Business Administration (1989), he also has a Higher Technique in Business Studies (England 2007). He is currently pursuing a Specialization in Afro-Latin American and Caribbean Studies with CLACSO.

He is the Founder and Executive Director of the Argentine Institute for Equality, Diversity, and Integration (IARPIDI), President of the Association of Congolese of Argentina (ACDA), Regular Member of the Association of Latin American Studies (LASA), Member of the Network National of Migrant Leaders in Argentina and Coordinator of the Social Inclusion Commission of the Argentine American Network for Leadership (REAL). The great commitment of his life is the fight for human rights.

Shortly after his arrival to Argentina, he began to participate in different activities to promote, defend and protect the human rights of asylum seekers, refugees, African immigrants, and Afro-descendants residing in the country.

Within the framework of these activities, Nengumbi has participated in different television programs (Argentina para Armar, Segundo para todos, IP Global, etc.), in defense of the rights of African immigrants in the National Justice, in an international audience before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, in the drafting of reports on human rights sent to the United Nations, of cultural activities, meetings with authorities, national meetings, conferences and seminars, talks in schools on human rights as speakers. Also, he has participated in several international seminars in the framework of the fight against racial discrimination, xenophobia, and racism (United States, Holland, France, Colombia, and Spain).
